Introduction

Tianya-Haijiao Scenic Area is located in the southwest of Sanya city, 23 kilometers away from the downtown. It is very well-known at home and abroad by its tropical charming sea-view, unique historical culture and ethnic customs.

“Tianya Haijiao” was used to express an exotic emotion in the ancient time in China. Through thousands of years, this phrase has borne a rich cultural connation.During the Yongzheng period of Qing Dynasty, Chengzhe, the local magistrate of Yazhou, inscribed two characters of Tian Ya on a huge stone cliff at the beach. During the period of Republic of China, General Wang Yiin scribed another two characters “Hai Jiao” on a rock near the “Tian Ya” stone. In 1961, Mr Guo Moruo a giant scholar,inscribed Tianya Haijiao Scenicarea on the side of “Tian Ya” stone which make this area become a real tourist attraction-“the end of the earth”, and enables people to find a physical carrier of the “ Tianya” complex which is in their mind.

Today's Tianya Haijiao shows you with blue sea green hills, white sand, huge rocks and coral reefs, just like a colorful painted screen. The coconut trees, sea waves fishing boats, sea birds and rosy clouds cast a reflection with each other and forma unique tropical scene in southern China.
